Zambia Uncovered Chinese Cyber Crime Syndicate; Youth Of 20-25 Year Were Being Used To Make Fraud, 77 Arrested

African country Zambia has busted a Chinese cyber crime syndicate. A total of 77 people, including 22 Chinese citizens, have been arrested in this case through a raid on a company run by China. This company had hired people from Zambia aged between 20 to 25 years, who could not be suspected. However, their pot has burst. Zambian officials have described this as a major achievement in the fight against cybercrime.

The name of this Chinese company which is spreading internet fraud is Golden Top Support Services. According to reports, Zambian agencies had been gathering information for several months on the reason for the increase in internet fraud cases in the country. After receiving solid evidence, the call centers of Golden Top Support Services located in the Roma area of the capital Lusaka were raided on Tuesday. Many such devices have been found from the youth hired as agents here, through which the caller can hide his location. Apart from this, thousands of SIM cards were also recovered.

In this regard, Director General of the country’s Drug Enforcement Commission Nson Banda said that Golden Top Support Services had hired such youths from Zambia who cannot be doubted. They were given the task of talking to mobile users on WhatsApp, Telegram, chatrooms and other platforms to defraud them. A script was also given for this. During the raid, 11 boxes of domestic and international SIM cards were found from the company premises.

22 Chinese and one Cameroonian in custody

According to the official, during the raid, evidence was found that this company was targeting people from African countries as well as Singapore, Peru and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Two weapons and 78 rounds of ammunition were also found in the raid. Apart from this, two vehicles have also been seized. Of the 77 people arrested in this case, Zambian nationals have been released on bail, while 22 Chinese and one Cameroonian have been kept in custody. He said that this company had defrauded a large number of Zambian citizens.
