Beware! Do Not Pick Even A Pebble Or Sand From The Sea Shore…, Canary Islands Made Strict Rule To Punish

It is a universal truth that as per the country, so is the disguise and the one who does not accept this truth, many a times has to be punished. Recently a new rule is in the news. Canary Island, located in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwestern tip of Africa, has made strict rules for tourists. It is clear in this rule that if someone picks up even a handful of sand or a pebble from the sea shore, then as punishment he will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Let us tell you that the Canary Islands are a group of seven main islands. These islands are Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. Each of these islands has its own distinct identity and characteristics. There is no doubt that there has been a trend among people for years to pick up small things like sand or stones as souvenirs from any tourist place, especially from the river or sea shore.

Now the administration of Canary Island has taken strict cognizance of this habit and has made a rule to improve it. Tourists visiting Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands are being warned not to pick up sand or stones from the beaches here. For doing so, a fine ranging from 128 pounds (Rs 13,478) to 2563 pounds (Rs 2,69,879) will have to be paid.

What does the officials think?

Officials believe that due to this the ecosystem here is being adversely affected. According to reports, about a ton of volcanic material disappears from Lanzarote’s beaches every year due to tourists doing this. Apart from this, several tons of sand is disappearing every month from the famous beach of Fuerteventura known as Popcorn Beach. This is disturbing the balance of nature and posing a threat to the beaches. To maintain this balance, it is very important to improve the habits of tourists.
