In fact, the tribal group Konda Reddy community had claimed that this tree stores water in the trunk, with the help of which they quench their thirst when needed. Divisional Forest Officer GG Narendran reached Papikonda National Park with his team on March 30 to investigate this claim. When the forest workers made a hole in the trunk of a tree here, water actually started coming out from it. All the officers were surprised to see this. He also recorded its video.

Forest officer GG Narendran, who shared this video on social media platform X through his page IFS @NarentheranGG, said that Indian forests have amazing adaptation. One of these trees is Terminalia tomentosa. This unique tree, the guardian of nature, is also known by the names Indian Laurel Tree and Indian Silver Oak. The height of this tree is up to 30 feet. They mostly thrive in dry and moist forests. One of Terminalia Tomentosa most important features is that it stores water during summer. The water stored in the tree has a strong smell and tastes sour. He told that this tree has great importance in Buddhism. Its wood is sold very expensive. This tree is being protected by the forest department.
