Mob Lynching : Youth Beaten To Death On Suspicion Of Stealing And Setting Fire To Temple

Mob Lynching in Shimla : An irrational incident has come to light from Himachal Pradesh, known for its peaceful environment. Here the mob took the law into their hands and beat a young man to death. Not only this, after this the dead body was also burnt. The matter is said to be a bit old, on the complaint of the mother of the deceased youth, the police have registered a case of murder 11 days after the incident and have started further action.

This tragic incident took place on March 22 in village Bajhol falling in Sunni tehsil of Shimla district. According to the information received, 38-year-old Tikamchand of village Kharayad used to work at Sevanand’s house in the village for 9 years. On March 22, Sevanand’s wife Prabha called and informed Tikamchand’s family about his death due to a fall and that his last rites would be performed.

On the other hand, according to Tikamchand’s mother Tara Devi, she was also told about theft in the temple by Tikamchand. In the complaint given to the police, he has told that he got information from the local people that on March 21, his son Tikamchand had gone to Shitala Mata temple and he was beaten to death by the people of the village on suspicion of theft. He alleges that some false contractors of the society took his son’s life. After this, his dead body was also burnt to destroy the evidence. People giving information about this said that the mob had accused Tikamchand of stealing from the temple and then setting it on fire.

After this complaint, the local police reached the area on Tuesday. Regarding this, Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi said that a case has been registered regarding this incident under sections 302, 201 and 202 of IPC and further investigation is being done. However, no one has been detained yet.
