10 Thousand Caves, Where Everyone Can’t Reach; Know The Mind Blowing Secrets

Kathmandu. Caves of Mustang: There are 10 thousand man-made caves in the Mustang district of Nepal, which are also known as Mustang Caves and ‘Sky Caves’. These caves are at a height of about 150 feet from the ground, which is not accessible to everyone. Only professional climbers can reach them. There are such secrets hidden in these caves, knowing about which you will be shocked!

What is the history of these caves?

According to a report by amusingplanet.com, the Mustang community bordering the Tibetan Plateau used to be one of the most remote and isolated areas of the Nepalese Himalayas. Once an independent Buddhist kingdom, Mustang was annexed by Nepal in the late 18th century. There was a ban on entry of outsiders into the Mustang area till 1992.

The now Nepalese district of Mustang contains deep valleys carved by the Kali Gandaki River and numerous strange rock formations, containing an estimated ten thousand ancient caves, some of which lie more than 150 feet above the valley floor. Now a large number of people come here to see these caves.

A user named @hiteshbindas has posted a picture of the cave on the social media platform Instagram, in which you can see the caves made in the rock from outside.

Mystery of Mustang Caves

Mustang caves are quite ancient, in which many secrets are hidden. Who dug these caves, how did people climb to reach them. Many of these caves are so high that only experienced mountaineers can reach them. Although most of the caves are now empty, others show the remains of hearths, grain storage bins and sleeping places.

Human remains have also been found in some caves, which makes it clear that they might have been used as burial chambers. The several dozen human bodies found in these caves were all more than 2,000 years old. They were laid on wooden beds and decorated with copper ornaments and glass beads. Besides, Buddhist paintings and artefacts were also found in many caves. You can see the view inside the caves in the video uploaded on YouTube by National Geographic, which we have shared above for you.
