Gurdwara Head Murdered In Canada; The Attacker Tried To Suicide After Shooting Two Men

Ottawa : An incident of murder of a Gurudwara president has come to light in Canada on Monday. The reason for this murder is being said to be a personal dispute, after which the Gurudwara president was shot in broad daylight. He died on the spot. Apart from him, after killing one more person, the attacker also tried to commit suicide by shooting himself. However, the investigation into the matter is continuing.

The incident occurred at a work site in South Edmonton, Canada. According to reports, local police patrol officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Cavanagh Boulevard SW and Cherniak Way SW on Monday, April 8, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Three people were found injured on the spot. Later, Indian-origin builder Buta Singh Gill (owner of Gill Built Homes Limited) and Sarabjit Singh, a civil engineer, died.

Although the initial investigation could not clarify the reason for this bloody incident, but if sources are to be believed, three people were present at the construction site at that time. Among these, Buta Singh Gill was also the head of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurudwara. After shooting both of them, a worker of Indian origin tried to commit suicide by shooting himself, currently he is seriously injured.

On the other hand, it is also noteworthy in this case that the deceased Buta Singh Gill had earlier also lodged a complaint with the police on 2-3 occasions about extortion calls and threats. While police are currently investigating this incident, there have been reports of other builders receiving threats in Edmonton and incidents of newly constructed houses being set on fire.
