Chamba Police’s Big Action; 4 Arrested With 6 KG Charas And Drug Money Worth Rs. 4 Lakh

The police of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh took major action on Thursday amidst the code of conduct imposed for the Lok Sabha elections in the country. Police took action against drug smugglers and arrested 4 people today. About 6 kg of hashish and drug money worth about Rs 3.80 lakh have been recovered from them. Now on one hand the police is busy taking further action by registering a criminal case against the accused, while on the other hand they have appealed to the youth of the area not to support drug dealers.

The arrested accused have been identified as Buddhi Prakash, resident of village Khutui in Churah tehsil of Chamba district, Narayan Singh, resident of village Kumharka, Manish Kumar, resident of Mai Ka Bagh in Sultanpur tehsil and his brother Tarun Kumar. In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police Shivani informed the media that two people were caught during checking at a checkpoint in Mai Ka Bagh in Sultanpur area. Cash worth Rs 2 lakh 40 thousand 500 was found in the possession of one of them.

According to the police officer, during interrogation, the accused told that they had collected this cash by selling hashish. Along with this, when the police conducted a search operation in the locality adjoining Chamba, they recovered 1 lakh 40 thousand cash along with 5 kg 856 gram church. The police have registered a case against the arrested accused under the NDPS Act and started further action. Along with this, the police officer (Additional Superintendent of Police Shivani) has urged the youth of the area to stay away from drugs and not support such people.
