Harish Salve And More Than 500 Other Lawyers Wrote To CJI, Expressed Concern Over This Matter

More than 500 prominent lawyers, including Harish Salve, have written a letter to the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. In this letter he has expressed concern over efforts to weaken the integrity of the judiciary. “As people who work to uphold the law, we think it is time to stand up for our courts,” the lawyers wrote in the letter. We need to come together and speak out against covert attacks while ensuring that our courts remain as pillars of our democracy.

It has been said in the letter that some people are putting pressure on the judiciary. Concern has been expressed in the letter about a particular group. It has been said that political personalities are facing pressure in corruption cases. The letter said that attempts are being made to influence political cases and subvert the judiciary.

The lawyers said in the letter to Chief Justice Chandrachud that leaders accuse someone of corruption and then defend the same in the court. When the decision is not as per their wish, they criticize the court inside the court or through the media. This is strange. This group praises or criticizes the court’s decisions as per its political agenda.

Lawyers said that this group believes in the theory of ‘my way or the highway’. The theory of bench fixing was also coined by this group. Apart from Harish Salve, the lawyers who have written letters to the CJI include Manan Kumar Mishra, Adish Aggarwal, Pinky Anand, Chetan Mittal, Ujjwala Pawar, Swaroopama Chaturvedi and Hitesh Jain.
