Boat Carrying 130 People sank In South African Country Mozambique, So Many People Lost Their Lives

A boat sank in South African country Mozambique on Monday near the northern coast. This accident costs  91 people’s death. According to reports, this boat was heading towards an island in Nampula Province with 130 people. But, this accident happened in between. It is being told that this boat was earlier a fishing vessel.

Officials said the boat sank because it was carrying more people than its capacity. Apart from this, the boat was unfit for passenger transport. Many children were also among those killed. Despite efforts to save them, only 5 survivors have been found so far. An operation is underway to search for the remaining people but the sea conditions are creating difficulties in this work.

Let us tell you that cholera disease also played a role in this accident. According to reports, Mozambique, which is struggling with the outbreak of cholera, has reported around 15,000 cases since October 2023 and 32 people have lost their lives. Because of this people are migrating from mainland Mozambique. Apart from this, the number of people fleeing to escape Jihadi attacks in neighboring Cabo Delgado has also increased.

Out of the 5 survivors rescued, 2 are being treated. This boat was going towards Island of Mozambique. This island, declared a World Heritage by UNESCO, was once the capital , of Portuguese East Africa. This island was discovered by Vasco da Gama. Let us tell you that Mozambique often has to face destructive cyclones. There is a lot of poverty here also.
