CBI Ready To Bring Back Rajeev Mehta From America, absconding For 23 Years; Interpol Has Issued RCN

New Delhi : CBI has intensified preparations to bring back bank fraud accused Rajeev Mehta, who was absconding for 23 years, from America. Rajiv Mehta, facing Red Corner Notice of Interpol, was wanted in a 25-year-old bank fraud case registered in Delhi. He was absconding since 2000.

Accused Mehta was declared a fugitive criminal by the court in 1999. Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) spokesperson said that the Global Operation Center of pursued him through Interpol channels. Eventually the National Central Bureau, Washington, located him under their jurisdiction. CBI has contacted the US through Interpol channels to bring the accused back to India.

Red corner notice was issued on 16 June 2000

Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against him on June 16, 2000, on the request of the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI). CBI spokesperson said that a case was registered against Rajeev Mehta in the year 1998 for fraud, theft and criminal conspiracy related to opening of fake bank accounts in Central Bank of India Greater Kailash Part-II, New Delhi. Through these accounts, he used to hold bank drafts of various parties and later encash them.

According to a notice uploaded on the website of the Ministry of External Affairs on December 19, 2018, criminal cases related to financial irregularities have been registered against Rajeev Mehta. CBI was looking for him in this case. Now this man has been booked by the CBI.
