Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke over phone with Sandeshkhali case victim Rekha Patra on Tuesday. Rekha Patra has been declared the candidate from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal by Bharatiya Janata Party in the recent Lok Sabha elections. When I spoke with the Prime Minister today, Rekha Patra told him (PM Modi) about the atrocities that happened to the people in Sandeshkhali. The people here have accused Trinamool Congress leaders of harassment.
It is important to note that the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership often surprises the country and the world with its decisions. The party has played a big bet in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Rekha Patra has been given ticket for Basirhat Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal, who is related to the recent Sandeshkhali controversy. Rekha Patra is the same woman who had accused Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh of grabbing her land and also sexual harassment. After the matter escalated, TMC expelled Shaikh from the party and he was arrested. So far, more than 14 people have been arrested in this case.
One more thing that deserves special mention here is that Sandeshkhali comes under Basirhat Lok Sabha seat. Bengali film actress Nusrat Jahan is currently the MP from this seat. However, this time TMC has not given ticket to Nusrat Jahan from this seat. Now that BJP has announced to bet on the victim Rekha Patra on this seat, after this, on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself called Rekha Patra and talked to her. PM took information from Rekha Patra about election preparations, while Rekha Patra told in detail about the atrocities against people in Sandeshkhali. The Prime Minister has described Rekha Patra as ‘Shakti Swarupa’.
