Born in 1945 in Savarkundla, Gujarat, Kamlesh was interested in singing since childhood. He studied M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Bhavnagar University, Gujarat. During his studies, he took admission in Saptakala of Bhavnagar and started learning music under the guidance of Bharbhai Pandya. The result of true hard work and dedication was that Kamlesh achieved mastery in music in a short time.

Kamlesh Awasthi started his singing career with the album ‘Tribute to Mukesh’, but he got real recognition from the song ‘Zindagi Imtihaan Leti Hai’ from the film ‘Naseeb’. Apart from this, he also lent his voice in Raj Kapoor’s last film ‘Gopichand Jasoos’. In this film, the songs sung by Kamlesh like ‘China Nahi Japan Nahi’ and ‘Dil Diwana Tera’ were liked a lot by the people. Apart from this, the song ‘Tera Saath Hai To’ from the film ‘Pyaasa Sawan’ is also included in the list of Kamlesh’s evergreen songs.
