Regional police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur told Reuters news agency that the suicide bomber hit a convoy of Chinese engineers with a vehicle laden with explosives. All the Chinese engineers were going from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A Pakistani driver was also killed in the attack
“Five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed in the attack,” Ali Gandapur said. He said Dasu has major dams and similar attacks have occurred in the area before. In the year 2021, 13 people, including nine Chinese citizens, were killed in an explosion in a bus.
