Dhaka : Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has strongly criticized the opposition for running a boycott campaign against India amid allegations of India’s interference in the internal politics of Bangladesh by the opposition. PM Hasina said that if opposition BNP leaders actually boycott Indian products then they will have to burn the Indian sarees of their wives.

According to media reports, influential leaders in Bangladesh politics, allegedly associated with BNP, posted on social media saying that India has been interfering in the internal politics of Bangladesh and in the electoral affairs of Bangladesh for a long time. After this #BoycottIndia trend started. Now on this matter, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has broken her silence on the ‘Boycott India’ campaign. The opposition has been sharply criticized for running this campaign and their ‘honesty’ has been questioned.

In a speech, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh said that if the opposition BNP leaders really boycott Indian products, then they will burn the Indian sarees of their wives? The PM further said, ‘BNP leaders are advocating boycott of Indian products. My question to them is, how many Indian sarees do the wives of the boycotting leaders have? Why don’t they take sarees from their wives and burn them?” The PM said, adding, ‘They should answer whether they cannot eat food without Indian spices.’
