Actually STI is a condition which arises due to physical relations. This serious problem can happen to any person of any gender and age. Millions of people are suffering from this all over the world. Recently, a report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has revealed that the cases of Syphilis, which is a type of STI, has increased significantly in America. Such an increase in its cases is being seen for the first time after 1950.

Some STI has clear Symptoms, but…

There are many types of STIs, which can cause problems for a long time. These infections can spread through any type of physical contact, such as vaginal, anal or oral. It is important to detect them in time and get them treated. Symptoms include abnormal discharge, pain while urinating, burning sensation during urination, itching, itching or irritation in the genital part, fever, fatigue. However, symptoms of some STIs are not visible. It is possible to detect these only through regular tests.

How to protect?

  • Always use condoms while having any kind of sex, oral, anal or vaginal.
  • Men or women who have more than one partner must get themselves checked regularly. If you notice any symptoms in yourself or your partner, immediately consult a doctor as to what to do next.
  • With the help of the vaccine, the risk of HPV and Hepatitis-B or other STIs can be avoided.
  • Feel free to talk with your partner about whether you have ever had an STI before or not, when was the last time you got tested, which vaccines you have taken.
  • Antibiotics are used to treat syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea. Anti-viral medicines are used for STIs like HIV and herpes. However, this is not their cure.
  • Have regular follow-ups with your doctor for complete recovery and to prevent the STI from recurring.
