Highest Cases Of Lung Cancer In Men And Breast Cancer In Women In India, More Than 9 Lakhs Deaths In A Year

New Delhi. India has seen an increase in cancer cases for the last several years. In the year 2022, more than 14.1 lakh new cases of cancer were reported, while more than nine lakh people died due to this serious disease. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the level has seen the highest number of cancer cases.

According to a report, the highest number of cases of lip, oral cavity and lung cancer have been seen in men and breast and cervical cancer in women. 27 percent of new cases of breast cancer and 18 percent of cervical cancer have been registered in women.

‘One out of every 5 gets cancer’

At the same time, WHO has estimated 20 million new cases and 97 lakh deaths globally and about 53 million people were alive within 5 years after cancer diagnosis. According to the report, approximately one in five people develop cancer in their lifetime and approximately one in nine men and one in 12 women die from the disease.

If we look at this special report, the risk of getting cancer before the age of 75 in India was estimated at 10.6 percent, while the risk of dying was 7.2 percent. At the same time, an increase in this figure was seen at the global level. Before the age of 75, the risk of developing cancer was 20 percent and the risk of death was 9.6 percent.
