The Parliament of Georgia turned into a battlefield on Monday. The MPs kicked and punched each other in the middle of the House. The incident took place when the ruling party chief was speaking in Parliament. Suddenly another MP pounced on him. After this, within no time the MPs present in the entire House started trying to hit each other and intervene. A small video clip of this incident is also going viral on social media, after which leaders are being criticized everywhere. On the other hand, at this time the reason behind this uproar is being discussed more than the reason behind it.

The crux of the controversy is a declaration by Georgia’s ruling Dream Party. In fact, in March the party had announced the introduction of a new law. Under this law, organizations receiving funds from abroad will be registered as foreign agents. Besides, heavy fine will also be imposed on them. However, once before also this law had stopped coming into existence due to huge opposition. It is believed that the countries bordering Georgia are in favor of this law of the current Russian government. Due to this, Georgia’s relations with the European Union and the United States deteriorated.

On Monday, ruling party head Mamuka Madinaradze was presenting his views in the House. Meanwhile, opposition MP Aleko Eliashvili attacked Mamuka. Aleko Eliashvili approached the stage and punched Mamuka Medinaradze, a commotion began in the parliament. On the other hand, the people protesting outside the Parliament House have supported the action of MP Aleko. Slogans were raised in his name outside the Parliament.
